Paint the scene of flowers.
Gather some flowers up - enough to make a bouquet.
Find some mana stones.
Presents must be beautiful.
Deliver the present to Freja Haljissen without letting Lord Eugene Rosenthal find out.
(Optional) Ensure you don't damage the environment or over-harvest.
It will be Lord Eugene Rosenthal's birthday soon and I thought it would be proper to send him a gift as thanks for all those he has presented to me over the past few weeks.
I know he loves beauty in all forms - especially when done through flowers and paintings...
I know it's not really my place to be gifting a married man something for his birthday but when else am I to show my thanks for his gentlemanly kindness?
As such, I would appreciate if you could find some beautiful flowers in the wild, paint the scenery and then gather some of the flowers into a bouquet.
I also believe he has mentioned an interest in mana stones, saying how their glow is very pretty so, please gather some of those, too.
I will be sure to give suitable reward for doing this kindness, as well as my gratitude.

Getting up from her crouching position on the bed, Liana put on her dress and headed for the kitchen. Upon entering, she saw that Hejlikka had already eaten and left. Liana smiled wryly as she realised she'd missed the opportunity to make the meals for the elf siblings. Cleaning the table and surfaces in the kitchen, she left the house and headed to the barracks to find Harrison.
"Night Watch, Cleaning, or Training?" The guard captain asked as sat at his office desk and read through a document detailing the recent reports on the slime horde, not bothering to look at the young woman.
"...I've decided to start learning how to fight with a weapon...since I realise how important it is to know how to defend myself in dangerous situations." She replied a little meekly, feeling slightly ashamed with her own physical weakness and ineptitude towards combat.
Harrison looked up from his document with his brows raised, "Oh? Finally planning on having some common sense?" He put down the document and went to a bookshelf filled with dossiers and folders - presumably of all of the guards and adventurers hired into the guards.
"...If it won't trouble the guards, sir." She hung her head, too embarrassed to look at the guard captain.
"Hmph! You'd cause us more trouble by being the weak woman you are, than by learning to at least be able to defend yourself and not get in our way!" He retorted as he took out a folder and began flipping through the pages, looking for something.
Liana looked up at that, "Then...?"
Harrison paused at a page and held it out for Liana to see, "See this guy: Alexei Lebedev. He's an otherworld adventurer who's currently working with the guards long-term to indefinitely with the thoughts of possibly going full-time with us. He specialises in using the billhook." He left the folder in Liana's hands as he went to the door and called for a nearby guard to bring in Alexei.
Reading through the dossier, Liana somewhat frowned in uncertainty, "It says he has a temper towards women...Is he going to be willing to train me, sir?"
"Ah, well it's more that he's had bad history with'em. The poor lad...he kept getting kidnapped by rich women when he was a teenager and forced upon by them because of his looks in his original world. When he came over 'ere he got into a bit of trouble with some female adventurers who didn't like how he was better looking than them and so they scarred his face..." Harrison sighed before muttering, "Women sure can be scary when it comes to looks..." He then surreptitiously glanced at Liana's face and grimaced when he imagined how Alexei's encounter might pan out.
"...Sir...are you trying to force me to give up being an adventurer by recommending him...?" Liana asked with a hurt expression, truly believing the guard captain was trying to hinder her.
Seeing the young woman looking hurt, Harrison's protective side came out, "Ah, no! He's just the best with his weapon for you. If anything, I think the two of you together would encourage growth from both sides." He gently patted Liana on the head awkwardly - not being used to such actions.
Before Liana could respond, a very handsome man with white spiky hair and a nasty scar over his face entered and saluted the guard captain, "You sent for me, Sir?" He glanced at Liana with open disdain before looking at Harrison.
"Yes, Lebedev." The guard captain motioned towards the young woman, "This is Liana, a member of the adventurer guild with barely any training in combat and weapon handling." He moved his arm to Alexei and pointed at him, "You specialise in using the billhook and are on a long-term contract with us - the City Guards." He pointed at Liana again, "I want you to train her into a competent adventurer who can defend herself if the need arises!"
"I refuse!"
"..." "..." Harrison's eye twitched as Liana hung her head in resignation.
"If that was all, sir, then I shall take my leave." Alexei saluted before turning to leave.
"Halt right there, Lebedev!" Harrison ordered loudly.
Alexei froze on the spot and turned to gaze at the guard captain with a questioning look.
"Give me your reason for refusing and, if it's acceptable, you may be dismissed. However, if I deem it not viable then you will train Liana on my orders!"
Alexei revealed a disgruntled face before glancing at Liana and screwing his nose up, "I don't think it's suitable for a woman to be trained by a man - especially me." He stared resolutely at Harrison, "What's more, I was intending on helping deal with the slime horde - which I feel has a much higher priority than training some weakling. Are my reasons adequate, Sir?"
The guard captain stared with a stern expression at the young man for a few seconds before saying, "Rejected! To use your own reason against you, we need every capable person we can get. Training Liana will ensure that at least one more person will be safe if the horde enters the city. Besides, considering your history, I think you're actually very suitable since I can trust you won't...'attack' her."
"..." Alexei stayed silent as he pondered over the guard captain's words.
"...Um...I don't want to cause trouble when you're so busy..." Liana said while hanging her head low and hugging herself in shame over how weak she was.
"No, he'll train you! If he doesn't, then I will count it as disobeying my direct orders." Harrison gave a meaningful look at Alexei, "I trust you understand the consequences of insubordination, Lebedev?"
"...I understand...Sir..." He reluctantly saluted, "I have received and understood your orders, Sir!"
"Good! Oh, another thing, " Harrison added, "Liana is more of a nocturnal person, so arrange your training schedule with that in mind. You are dismissed!" Without allowing Liana or Alexei to say anything more, the guard captain went back to his desk to read through more documents - completely ignoring their presence.
The two reluctantly looked at each other before Alexei motioned for Liana to follow him with his head, and headed out towards a training room in the barracks.
Reaching the building and going towards a room, Alexei stopped before opening the door and held out his hand to Liana. "Fee!"
"...Huh?" Liana tilted her head in confusion while staring at the hand.
Alexei sighed impatiently before jerking his hand in front of Liana with more emphasis, "Getting trained by a city guard - or an affiliate - requires a fee of 15G per day; in your case per night. So...pay up!"
Liana's gold eyes widened in surprise before calming down in understanding, "Ah, my apologies. I wasn't aware." She started taking out her bag of money she kept inside her dress, "Is it okay if I pay for more than one day in advance?"
Alexei frowned, "You want more than one session?"
She smiled wryly out of embarrassment, "Um...I seriously doubt that one session would be enough...I mean...I did a week of training during the City Guard exam and failed abysmally..."
"...Just how bad at combat are you?" The scarred man asked incredulously while looking his student up and down with deep scrutiny.
Feeling uncomfortable under the penetrating gaze, Liana responded, "Um...bad enough that I almost stabbed a teammate in the back when I accidentally let go of the billhook while practice-swinging it?"
"...How much do you have on you...?"
Looking inside her bag, Liana counted 164G and told him.
"Hmm, that's enough for ten nights of intense training." He stared at the young woman with a serious look, "You willing, or not?"
Thinking that she didn't really have anything else to spend her money on at the moment, Liana slowly nodded before taking out 14G and handing the bag over to Alexei to empty into his own money bag before returning. Putting her remaining money back in the bag, she stored it back into her dress pocket - earning an observing stare from Alexei.
"Take it off."
Liana looked up in shock and stepped back out of involuntary fear, "What?"
"Your dress." He then opened the door and headed in without looking back.
"...Um...Why?" She said as she tentatively followed inside while hugging herself defensively.
Alexei had gone over to a locker and taken out some spare men's clothes, "Your dress isn't suitable for training in. You might be fine with it, but I don't want to see you flashing your privates - it's disgusting!" He threw the clothes at Liana - hitting her in the face before she reflexively caught them.
Blushing from embarrassment at his crudeness and abrasiveness, Liana looked around the room to see if there was anywhere to get changed but found none. "...Um...where should I get changed?"
The white-haired man gave her a condescending look, "Here. You're not some delicate flower who's never been touched before, so don't act like one! Now get changed, it's your money that's being wasted from your slowness!" He went to another side of the room and began taking out some weights from a storage box.
Liana blushed in shame and embarrassment again, before involuntarily shuddering as a memory of Jasper feasting on her flashed through her mind. Not wanting to 'waste' her money, she turned her back to her trainer and quickly got changed. As soon as her attire had been put on, Alexei pointed at the various weights he'd lined up on the floor, "Lift each one at a time, from smallest to largest, so I can gauge your current strength!"
Complying with his order, Liana hurried over to that side of the room and picked up the first weight with ease before putting it down after Alexei nodded. She continued doing this until she reached the sixth weight out of twenty, in which she needed to use both hands to lift it up. By the time she got to the tenth weight, she couldn't lift it more than a cm off the ground.
"That's enough...I have a better grasp on your strength now...You really are weak." He easily picked up all of the weights and carried them back to the box. "All right, now I need to check your reaction speed, since that is one of the most important things to have during combat." He immediately went to punch Liana in the abdomen, resulting in her reflexively beginning to step out of the way but not fast enough; she ended keeled over in pain, coughing from the air she'd lost upon impact. "Hmm, not as slow as a normal civilian here but nowhere near fast enough to be competent. Get up!"
Liana struggled to get up as her abdomen was in tremendous pain, leading to Alexei yanking her up by the arm. Wiping his hand on his shirt, he glared disdainfully at Liana before continuing, "I want to see how fast you can run, followed by how much stamina you have. Let's go to a courtyard." He then left the room at a brisk pace and headed for the empty training yard outside the building. Struggling to keep up with the scarred man, Liana held onto her abdomen as she quickened her pace.
Stopping in the centre of the empty courtyard, Alexei glanced at Liana and ordered, "Run a lap as fast as you can, then return here!"
Gritting her teeth from her sore abdomen, she went to the outer edge of the courtyard and began running around it as fast as she could. Watching his student running at a slightly above average pace than a normal civilian, Alexei retained a stern expression as he pondered over how to arrange the young woman's training schedule. Seeing her return to his side, he looked her up and down and noticed she was still gripping her abdomen as she breathed heavily from the exertion.
"Does it still hurt?" He asked blankly as he stared at Liana's hand on her abdomen.
"Hah...hah...Not much now...sir..." She answered while trying to catch her breath.
"Hmm...your body must be really fragile since that was my weakest punch..." He muttered before staring into her dull gold eyes with a reddish tinge, "Now let's see how much stamina you have. Run laps until you can no longer move!"
"Yes sir!" Liana didn't hesitate as she ran back to the edge of the courtyard and began running laps - not pushing herself this time and trying to keep a steady pace.
Seeing that Liana was trying to keep to a manageable pace, Alexei frowned in dissatisfaction and yelled, "Run as hard and fast as you can! When in dangerous combat situations, you usually can't hold back against your opponent! I want to see how far you can go, so get those legs moving!" He then decided to actively encourage her by chasing behind her and smacking her thighs from behind - which startled Liana into running faster through fear.
***
Twenty minutes later, Liana was lying on the ground barely able to move at all - with Alexei standing upright with his arms crossed looking down on her pitiful figure. "Well, now that we've established your current level of fitness, I think it's time to see your skill with the billhook. Return to the room, or else I'll cancel our training sessions here and now!" He then made his way back inside without bothering to help Liana up or see if she was following.
Breathing heavily, Liana crawled along the ground for a few metres before finally managing to muster the strength in her legs to stand up and reach the room. Upon entering, Alexei chucked a practice billhook at her - hitting her in the face and causing her nose to bleed. Wiping her nose, she licked the blood off the back of her hand and found the flow was already slowing. Picking up the billhook from the floor, she moved to where her trainer was and looked at him with an earnest gaze.
Taking in the pitiful appearance of the young woman, the scarred man crossed his arms and motioned his head towards the weapon, "Show me your starting weapon stance!"
Obeying his order, Liana immediately altered her position to what the instructor during the city guard training quest had taught her - albeit it with many errors due to not fully remembering. With a heavy intake of breath before sighing in exasperation, Alexei roughly grabbed her arms and legs and placed them in the proper positions, then observed his handiwork. He frowned when he saw his students arms had lowered from where he'd placed them and immediately corrected them again.
"Why are your arms so flimsy? Keep them where I put them, or else your whole stance is going to get messed up!"
"Sorry, Sir..." Liana apologised while shuffling her feet in awkwardness.
Seeing her action, he admonished her again, "Why are you moving your feet now? Do you enjoy me touching you? Is that it?" He asked with a disgusted expression as he roughly grabbed her ankles and re-positioned them to the correct spot.
"No! I just...wasn't thinking and moved..." She responded while hanging her head low in shame from the false accusation; her body shuddered involuntarily whenever the man touched her.
Noticing her reaction, Alexei frowned and slapped her face, "Whore! Getting aroused from me touching you? Then I'll just slap you to remind you of your pathetic place!"
Liana lifted a hand to her burning cheek and hung her head lower - her hair covering her face, "...I wasn't...getting aroused...Sir..." She shivered involuntarily, "...I just...don't like men touching me..." She began subconsciously backing away from him while hugging herself - completely forgetting she was supposed to be in a weapon stance.
Realising he'd gone too far with his words, Alexei rubbed his face in exasperation, "...Then that makes two of us, I don't enjoy touching women...It repulses me!" He glared at the young woman's pitiful figure, before calming down and grabbing the practice billhook. "Observe what I do and repeat it!" He performed several stances with the billhook before placing it back in Liana's hands.
After having watched her trainer perform a routine of stances, Liana went over the movements in her mind and tried to repeat them. As Alexei observed her, he noticed that her transition between each stance was actually very fluid and graceful...it was just the actual stances themselves that she didn't get quite right. Thinking about something, then staring at Liana's headdress, he asked, "What was your profession before being an adventurer?"
Looking up at the scarred man, Liana was about to answer when a sudden pain began throbbing in her mind. Pushing against her head to hold back the pain, she responded, "I was a priestess-in-training...to the Snake God: Lord Shé Shén...Why?"
Surprised by her answer, he continued his questioning, "Did you perform any ritual dances while there?"
Liana showed surprise, before smiling in reminiscence, "Yes. Every day we would do a ritual dance after morning purification and..." The pain became more intense, so she stopped and smiled wryly, "Why the sudden interest, Sir?"
Alexei stared at her as if considering something before replying, "Think of the weapon stances as dance moves. Each stance is the beginning and ending of the dance, with the transitioning being the bits in-between. It might make things easier for you that way. After all, combat moves are mostly based on repetitive movements that are committed to muscle memory for reflexive actions."
"...I see..." Liana responded while looking a little lost over things like muscle-memory being mentioned.
Checking the clock on the wall, Alexei resumed the training session: "Well, since we've established that, I want you to memorise the stances and perform them until midnight. We'll then move on to weight training to build up your arm, stomach and leg strength for the rest of the night.
"Okay!" Liana responded enthusiastically.
***
By the time the bells signifying dawn were ringing, Liana's body was feeling very tired and sore from doing stuff it wasn't used to. The vigorous and controlled movements for the stances were harder to continuously do than she had initially though; the weight training was even worse, leaving her body almost unable to move due to being forced to bend into positions not normally done in everyday life. Once Alexei heard the bells, he glanced outside the window and told her to stop.
"I know that you prefer doing stuff at night, but not all combat will take place then. As such, every three nights we'll have a night of rest followed by two days of training. You'll then have another night of rest and we'll do another three nights of training, followed by a night of rest and two days of training. How does that sound?"
"...Won't that end up being more than ten days?" Liana asked in confusion.
Alexei shook his head, "No. I'm not counting the rest days as part of training. No one said anything about the training needing to be continuous. Besides," He put the practice billhook back on the weapon rack, "I need time for my own training and rest. Being with you is very...taxing." His expression showed discomfort - most likely because he had to be near a woman.
"Ah, I guess that makes sense...Then, do I sleep in the barracks, or back home?"
"Please sleep at home. I'd rather not be seeing you twenty-four hours a day for almost two weeks. Give me a break!"
Liana smiled wryly at that, before she bowed in thanks for the first training session, then left the barracks to head home for the day.
Returning back home, she drank from her wine bottle - finishing it off - washed herself and her clothes, then went to sleep.
Waking up as soon as the sun set, Liana got herself ready, made Hejlikka and Julrik's meals, then headed straight for the city guard barracks to meet up with Alexei.
"You're late!" Were the first thing Liana was met with upon entering the training room; the scarred man stood near the practice weapons rack with his arms crossed and a face full of impatient anger.
"I'm sorry!" Liana bowed to him in apology, "I was making food for my housemates as part of my rent and hadn't realised how long it took."
Alexei glared at her before responding, "Why not just f*ck them as payment for the rent? Isn't that what women do best?" He began limbering up for the training session, "What are you standing there for? Get those muscles warmed up!" Blushing in angry shame over his crude words, Liana could only stay silent as she followed his orders and began doing the motions for warming up.
Once their muscles were warmed up and ready, the scarred man had the young woman do some weight training to help build up her muscles. He made her work on her core first, since having a stable core strength was vital when fighting against something that moved fast. While Liana was working on her core, Alexei made her also perform some other exercises to make her body more flexible and supple - although he was somewhat surprised that she already had a degree of flexibility due to her past.
After roughly two hours of muscle, core and suppleness training, Alexei gave his student some cool down exercises. Once her muscles had cooled down from doing the training, the trainer led her out of the room so she could run laps around the courtyard to build up her stamina and speed. As Liana did all of this, Alexei constantly hurled verbal abuse towards her - calling her a pathetic whore, a slut who was only flexible for the bed, a disgusting slag with no worth, a b*tch in heat who needed men to survive, etc...
Although she'd have liked to refute those insults, deep down she somewhat believed it based on her past experiences in this world, thus deflating her self-confidence for the whole night. Enjoying his venting of personal experience on the young woman, he made sure to chase her around the courtyard and hit her to keep her going faster and longer in her laps. Liana wanted to cry, however she felt if she did her time would become even more miserable so she desperately held her tears back.
After half an hour of running, Liana finally collapsed, leading to Alexei grabbing her roughly by the arm and dragging her limp body back into the training room. He then laid her down on a bench and began massaging her muscles while rubbing some health potion on her to accelerate the healing. "You'd better be grateful to me for doing this! Potions are expensive for most people!"
"...Thank you...for your...kindness..." Liana struggled to get out, barely uttered as the pain from her aching muscles being roughly - yet expertly - massaged was verging on unbearable.
Seeing his student was in clear visible agony, Alexei lightened up the massaging after realising he was being a bit too rough. "Once I'm done with this, we'll move onto stances until midnight." He observed his student and saw she was relaxing a bit more from his change in pressure, "Remember what we discussed yesterday, think of it as dance moves."
"...Yes, Sir..."
Once she had recovered from the stamina and speed training, Liana practised the stances with the practice weapon. When the bells signalling midnight rang, Alexei told stopped the practice and told her to come out into the courtyard again. Following his orders, she found him setting up some a few rope ladders on the ground in a line.
"We'll be working on your footwork now. More specifically, ensuring you have good agility and mobility. This exercise will have you running fast along these rope ladders without hitting or moving the rungs - I expect your feet to barely leave the ground and to land both feet in every space. If you knock over or get your foot caught on a rung or the rope, you'll stop and redo it from the beginning. Once you've reached the end, I want you to do it backwards - same rules for getting caught or tripping up applies for that, too." He then walked over to the start of the course, "I'll show you what I mean first, then you'll do it until I feel you're ready to move onto the next part of the exercise."
He quickly and efficiently ran through the ladders - showing his fast and nimble footwork in the process. When he'd finished within a few minutes, he glanced at Liana with impatience. Not wanting to be scolded again, she began the course as instructed - however she had to keep redoing it due to accidentally kicking a rung, or losing her getting her feet caught in the rope and falling. By the time she'd completed it a few times, Alexei stopped her and gave new instructions:
"Now I want you to side-step in and out instead of just moving forward." He showed her what he meant, "The idea is to increase your mobility and dodge speed. Now get to it!"
"Yes, Sir!"
***
Once Liana had finished the new exercise, Alexei changed things up by incorporating both exercises together; Liana would do the first exercise and whenever Alexei shouted, "Dodge!" she had to perform the second exercise before resuming the first one. By the time the dawn bell rang, Liana was completely wiped out of energy; with the rising sun, her energy only became further sapped. Seeing the young woman collapsed on the ground, Alexei finally called an end to the training session.
"We'll end it here for now. Be sure to get here on time tonight!"
Before getting a response from his student, the scarred man left the courtyard and headed for the canteen; no doubt to get some food after a long night of physical activity. Struggling to get up from her position on the ground, Liana rubbed her sore legs before heading back home.
Getting back, Liana opened a new wine bottle and drank quite a few mouthfuls of Jasper's blood - feeling quite hungry and thirsty after the strenuous exercise she'd done. She then washed her body and clothes before heading to bed - falling asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow.
Waking up as soon as the sun set, Liana hurriedly got dressed and wrote a note to Hejlikka and Julrik - explaining how her training time made it difficult to prepare meals for the moment. She then made her way to the barracks for her third night of training.
For the whole night, Alexei had Liana repeat the same routines she had done the first night - working on improving her core and muscle strength, overall speed and weapon stances. He reasoned that he felt the more strenuous training should be done in the night sessions rather than the two day sessions he had planned for her. As such, with a pile of insults hurled throughout the night, Liana went through the training exercises set by the scarred man.
With the dawn bells ringing, Alexei told her to meet up at dawn in a night's time so they could start her first day session. Leaving the barracks for the day, Liana headed home feeling sore all over; her self-confidence was both shattered and strengthened simultaneously on account of her noticing that - albeit very slow and gradual - her strength and fitness was beginning to improve.
Returning back to the house, Liana did her usual routine of washing her clothes and body, before drinking a few mouthfuls of Jasper's blood from the wine bottle, then going to bed.
Waking up as the sun set, Liana recalled that this was her first rest day and so spent it cleaning the house, practising the core exercises and working on her agility. She made sure not to overwork herself since it was supposed to be a rest day - passing it without much happening. Knowing that she would be doing a day session the next day, Liana decided to continue her little workouts until just before noon, then headed off to bed; making sure to have written a note for the elf siblings to wake her up just before dawn.
She finished off the second bottle of Jasper's blood before going to sleep, and pondered over whether she should drink when she woke up for the day session - since she'd need all the energy she could get to successfully get through the day.
Waking up from Hejlikka's careful nudging, Liana got dressed, had some 'breakfast', and headed off to the barracks for her first day training. Her body already felt a little lethargic, however the boost of energy provided by her meal managed to sustain her a bit longer than usual for being awake in the day.
"You look awful..." Alexei commented as soon as he glanced upon his student's tired face. "I thought I told you to rest, why do you look so worn out?"
"...I don't do well during the day..." Liana responded a little distantly.
The scarred man observed his student's distant tone before making her do the same exercises as the second session.
***
To say Alexei was surprised at Liana's lethargic-ness would be an understatement; he was practically livid with the young woman's seeming lack of enthusiasm and energy, the further the morning passed. Shouting at his student for the nth time to get up and get moving, he kicked her several times to 'encourage' her to keep up with the training, only to receive a lacklustre response.
"The guard captain and you really weren't kidding about you not being a day person..." He muttered to himself before signalling for Liana to stop running laps.
Still not willing to stop with the schedule he'd arranged, Alexei stubbornly continued with the training session. However, once noon arrived, he was met with another problem from his student when Liana suddenly collapsed into unconsciousness - looking like a corpse.
***
Waking up mid-afternoon, Liana found herself tied up inside the training room; Alexei was to the side doing practice swings with his own billhook. Noticing his student was finally awake, he looked at her with venomous eyes.
"Enjoy your little nap, b*tch?" He kicked Liana in the stomach, "Hey, I'm all for you spending your money and wasting it but if it's just to play games then I'm cancelling this."
"Playing games...?" Liana asked with a small frown. "You call getting verbally and physically abused playing games? Also...WHY AM I TIED UP?!" She struggled to get out of the ropes binding her, but with not much luck.
Alexei blankly observed her before responding, "I'm teaching you a lesson. No matter if you're awake or not, you should always be aware of your surroundings. If you feel you're about to collapse, then find a safe place; don't faint out in the open, idiot!" He kicked her the ground next to her head.
Liana was angry, "That doesn't explain why you tied me up!"
"I tied you up to give you an extra lesson in how to escape from such scenarios. At some point, I imagine most adventurers will have ended up in a situation where they are out of their depth - or are careless - and find themselves tied up." His replied in a tired tone - his eyes a bit distant from reminiscing past things.
"...Then...how do I get out of these?"
Alexei looked at Liana with a sardonic smile, "You have the whole room," he opened his arms wide, "so figure it out yourself. I want you to learn how to adapt, as well as being fit."
"..." Liana didn't know what to say, so could only look at her surroundings to try and figure out what to do. Meanwhile, her instructor went back to practising with his billhook.
After a while, she eventually manged to cut the ropes using her hard and sharp nails which somewhat intrigued Alexei. However, he didn't pursue that matter as he made Liana spend the rest of the afternoon practising weapon stances since he realised she couldn't do anything more strenuous than that at the moment. He made sure to correct her posture whenever it was wrong - which was frequent due to fatigue - and gave her pointers on how to put power into her swings and thrusts.
Once dusk arrived, Alexei stopped the lesson. He was still adamant about doing the other Day sessions so he reminded Liana to make sure to arrive at dawn the next day. With that, Liana left the barracks - feeling incredibly tired and worn out from the session - and headed back to the house.
Feeling hungry and lacking in energy, Liana decided to have another few mouthfuls of Jasper's blood before going to bed.
The next Day session was slightly altered from the previous one, with Alexei having Liana focus just on weapon stances for the entire day. Before noon arrived, she asked to be excused for an hour before falling asleep. Once the hour was up, Alexei made sure his student woke up before forcing her to do more weapon stances.
The day after was a rest day, so Liana spent it working on her core, as well as cleaning the house and washing Hejlikka and Julrik's clothes.
For the sixth day (night) of training, Alexei had her perform the same routine as the first night. The seventh day (night) was like the second night. The eighth day was like the first night again. As the sessions went by, Alexei's caustic tongue turned kinder as Liana committed less mistakes - as well as her overall fitness was steadily improving so she could last longer with certain exercises. He also didn't accuse her of sleeping around as much like he had done the first few days after seeing her earnestly trying to do the training well.
Liana's third rest day was passed much like the previous rest day, only she tried to practice doing a full routine of weapon stances without the practice billhook in order to keep the movements fresh in her mind.
The last two training sessions were Day ones, thus Alexei had her do the same as the second Day session - just focusing on her weapon stances. Once dusk arrived, Alexei stopped the session and willingly shook Liana's hand.
"You've worked hard in these ten days! I will admit that you have some determination - despite my best efforts to degrade you to the point of quitting. Tch! Keep up with your training and be sure to come back when you have more money. You haven't even scratched the surface of proper weapon and combat training yet. Your next sessions will put your basics to the test with some sparring exercises mixed in - so be sure to keep up with your foundation! Now scram! I can't bear being near you any longer!" Alexei wiped his hand on his shirt before motioning for Liana to leave.
Bowing to the scarred man, Liana replied, "Yes, Sir! Thank you for enduring me all of this time, it's much appreciated!"
"Yeah, yeah. I only did it cos I was ordered to by Harrison, now go before I puke at your sight!"
Liana gently smiled at that - having already begun to get used to Alexei's crude mouth - and left for the guild to write up her report.
