This assumes that someone, for some reason, has created an easy and instinctive to use magical system for everyone in the world.
Or that there are an extremely varied amount of theories on how magic works but it does. *Just look at atoms* That anyone can use it but no one can 100% tell others because everyone knows there are so many goddamned unprovable theories!

I like this approach too!

"No one has observed mana before but it's definitely there!!!!! The math proves it!"

"Without mana, reality would implode due to dark matter!"

:blob_evil: For me, I just use the hand-wavy magic.

You know, like the kind where you stab a doll and then the person falls over and dies.

I think I very rarely include mentions to "mana" or even consider the existence of mana -- but that's largely because I'm not as fond as I used to with attempting to science-ify magic. More recently, I've been leaning more towards notions like magic => non-deterministic, where science => deterministic.

Because if magic is deterministic (e.g. 1+1 always equal 2), then it's frankly just the same as the science of another world in the same way that electricity is science... in which case attitudes about magic should be exactly the same as Earth attitudes about science and lightbulbs and nuclear bombs.
I like hand-wave magic too! \(^^)/

But uhn... I think there is a charm in a semi-organized system too~

I think I like a mix of hand-wave with science actually... Like how in Mahou Tsukai no Yome that there are Wizards that deeply study the intricacies of Magic, and the Magus that just... Do Magic.

I like this mix of it being something studiable and managed by careful understanding of it, but also done by simply feeling it and doing what seems right~

One of my favorite magic systems is a string-based one.

First, ignore mana because in this system it does't exist.

Second, visualize space-time. All objects are in a four-dimensional space where time is the fourth dimension.

Everything that interacts with another forms a "thread", and it stretches across spacetime. Ordinarily, these threads are pretty weak and they can decay and fall apart.

From the perspective of a witch brewing potions, it's possible to preserve these threads so there some meaning to it. For instance, a witch could put a doll into a cauldron, and use magic to preserve all the threads connected to the doll. Now, everything that is linked to the doll is now linked to the potion, and there is some kind of added effect. Namely, everyone who is connected to the doll (or touched the doll) in the past, present, and future is now apart of the spell.

This basically allows the witch to do magic on somebody even though they may not physically be present.

Set the doll on fire, and perhaps causality is propagated through the space-time threads.

Then random people die all across the world! Magic!

:blob_evil: :blob_evil: :blob_evil: Threads form and decay naturally.

Here I'm defining magic as preventing the natural decay of threads.

It's assigning excess meaning to something that has a little bit of meaning.

Like you know that sandwich you ate for breakfast? Ordinarily, you probably don't care that you ate a turkey, but what if the meaning/emphasis on the dead turkey was exaggerated disproportionately? Perhaps the next time you walk by a flock of birds, pigeons will poop on your head.

As for the random rock, it would really only work if someone spent a long time curating and taking care of all the threads associated with the rock, because otherwise they decay to meaninglessness over time naturally. So it must be an awfully special rock!

Hey, that's okay too! But which region should we do a quest in? I'll post a custom quest specifically for a party quest.

I just realised that we'll be a party of people with multiple personalities.
Solet was planning to go to Gelderholm, to hopefully take D-ranked exam there, if possible. ( @GM is it okay? )

Never fear, ohko’s first law is that everything is meaningful and meaningless at the same time!

Ohko’s second law is that everything meaningful eventually becomes meaningless.

Ohko’s third law is that with every meaningful action, there is at least one meaningless consequence. (And vis versa)

You can do both!
Oh~
Solet technically hasn't done it yet! He wanted to challenge himself, largely to distract himself from his thoughts.
More canned suffering~

I just updated my character (again), and I hope the two new skills (the two at the bottom) I just added fulfils that third law.

So... Who am I supposed to ship here?

Sora X Vicious?
Sora X Elaine?
Vicious X Sora X Elaine?
Okarin X Vicious X Sora X Elaine?
Solet X Luna X Leti X Elaine X Sora X Vicious X Okarin?

There are just so many options in this thread of ships... o.0

I guess I'll need at least a 2D diagram to depict it properly at this rhythm, 1D isn't solving it anymore...
