Stance on Harems and what do you think make them bad? Also if you were to write a Harem, how much do you think would be the number limit of members.

I write my FMC to be strong, so if there one woman who try to seduce the MC, she would mostly die.

I don't have anything against harem, but I don't understand it either, I don't know how they can accept to share this easily, make some scene about it or fight for it anything, don't accept it.

I more or less accepted it in mushoku tensei, since there was implication, scenes about how they perceive it, and the three wives have characters, they are not bland or forgotten after a fun night together or didn't become a side pannel to just look at it.

People that hate harems are very vocal, but they're still extremely popular. Part of this is that harems are usually very much at the forefront of the stories they're in, not really able to be side factors since it will influence how all the major character interact with each other, meaning people who don't like harems really don't like the stories they're in, unlike something like love triangles which people also often dislike but can easily be small parts of stories love triangle haters otherwise like. That said, there are still dozens of harem stories on this sight that have millions of views, and the most popular story on the site, whether you count by number of views or number of readers, is a harem story. The best advice I can give is to at least do something to differentiate your harem from others, as a standard, no twist harem will not draw and keep readers unless it's done so so so much better than all the established ones that are already popular since it will likely make up such a large portion of your story.

The main harem would be like three or four. The FRINGE harem would be massive. My MCs live like Kings. You got the favored members of the harem, then you got the outliers who await your summons
Lmao, sounds silly. Hope your MC's have done enough to deserve the King's life!

True. I guess at the end of the day. It just depends on how you write your story and the harem that makes it acceptable or not. I've been enlightened now!

So, I don't really like Harems or Reverse-Harems.

Yes, it's possible for multiple people to fall in love with one person and for one person to fall in love with multiple but I always felt like people should just go the extra step and make it a polycule (share the love, people!). Most harem stories almost always end up with low interactions between the non-target of the harem or the members just accept it and treat it like it's no big thing. The members of the harem end up not feeling like real characters at all. Plus, a lot of these stories are set in worlds where having a harem would not be normal but it's just glossed over.

@Anon2024 Strategic Lovers. I dropped it fairly early, so I don't know how close it is to your premise later on. But I remember in the beginning it was kinda like that. Harem members were not super into MC, while he was forced to cohabitate with them and pick one to be his wife or something.

This is definitely the first time I've seen a take like this. I don't really get it but that's prob just me. You're right about the members becoming fine with it for stupid reasons though. I also agree with the fact that most of the modern-day harems should not be possible but still exist somehow, weird how almost no one points it out most of the time.

Naw it’s not.

I want to write a bunch of super powerful milfs forced to marry a teenage MC for a prophecy and they hate it but do it.

it’ll start off with their battle records being amazing in the background.

I could make the MC a modern day guy who was good at strategy or something, but he gets sick of their treatment and thus turns them on each other before becoming the undisputed ruler then saves everyone by himself with some of his wives leading the armies.

though I feel it’s too cliche.

MC in Strategic Lovers did the same thing. He got sick of certain girls and used other girls to force them out. Though it's not fantasy, the premise is rather similar. And the girls are amazing, though not as warriors, but as models and so on.

Harem stories are pretty hit or miss. Most harem stories end with unsatisfying conclusions due to cancellation or abandonment. It feels most harem stories lose focus more and more as time goes on.

I think harem stuff is hard to write because most harem npcs have no reason to be desired by female characters other than basic level common curtesy and friendliness. If girls acted like they do in harem stories I wouldn’t be so lonely. Anyone who’s read tu love ru knows how ridiculous this stuff can get, when the mc with the personality of a saltine has over a dozen different girls pining after him including adults decades older than him.

I myself would never write a harem story because I don’t think I could do a harem ending better than Rosario To Vampire.

That’s my two cents

You mean they look nice but are useless.

Pathetic.
That’s why you dropped it.

Not to me. Sounds like a masterpiece in the making.

My Two cents to add on to that idea is that you need someone (prob the person who tells the prophecy) to make sure the mc doesn't get killed outright by the milfs.

Having people who are jealous of the mc also makes for some good chess pieces.

Mc gets sick of the treatment fairly early but acts later on so he has some plans in play.

(I don't write much strategy stuff. [I'm brainded] but if it has MILFS in it then I'll read it any day :)

I probably won’t have the energy to put in the effort for a masterpiece but I may get to writing it later on.

I have too much on my plate right now in real life. Most of the time I’m posting on the forum is downtime while at work.

That look a bit like Tales of Wedding Rings
