A: Require sources from two different players to be able to add something to the Library.
  • Objective is to reduce clutter.
  • Focus on entities that are shared between multiple players.
  • Encourage players to get other players to agree on heir observations.
  • This would mean that Library is not really intended for personal NPCs or personal backstory components.
My only concern about that is, if players don't read reports, how will they know about NPC's people have introduced and wish for other people to have the chance to use?
'-'

I put up the NPC's I did because I wanted them to be used by other people, not just myself.

B: Require participants from three different players to consider something an “event”.
  • Add an “event” section to the site to track big plots.
  • To prevent players from adding small plots, have a minimum player count involved in order to get it on the site.
C: Require quest reports from three different players to open a region fo a quest board.
  • Ensure that a diversity of opinions go into establishing a new region.

The only one I'm against is the characters one. I agree with Nah I've made doctor and doctor Stern and no one else even asked about them so I added them to the library so other people new more about them and knew they could use them. Plus if I hadn't added them there they would be buried in information that is literally in thousands of word long text blocks...

The NPCs thing is challenging because I don’t often think that people search the Library for NPCs, so they often get missed anyways unless the player is searching for something specific (e.g. Slimes).

Lately it’s also felt like NPCs are the main thing that get added to the library, so it just feels like clutter when they’re all cited to one user.

That said, I’d love to see more players sharing NPCs. S there a way to encourage this?

I kind of want to avoid the situation that everyoneadds their personal NPCs but nobody else bothers to read it and just skims over those entries. So in a sense, I’d prefer it if there was a higher standard to add an “important” NPC to the library.

...But I dunno what others think.

They seem okay, although Liana isn't likely to do most of them.

I've probably still got another 2 days in Spire Reef and then 1 day in Scribel and then out to the new kingdom place that I want to develop!

That moment when you practically built Spire Reef alone before the new rules come. :blob_highfive:

I have no problems with the rules— I just had to shove my NPCs to others a lot harder so that they yielded and followed my way anyway!

But...people have been using my NPC's since I posted them in the library...
orz

I just haven't added all of the references.

So far, Julrik, Hejlikka, Clive and Imelda have been used by other players.

Well there is of course the quests. Just have them produce an escort quest so of course that NPC has to be mentioned or you have to deliver something to the NPC. But other than that just try and promote npc's to people and collate the guys we have and tell people to use them!~
Or this is not something you will do 100% create more permanent position so the head of the medical facility is doctor x
The main noble is noble y.
There are these gangs currently they have x leaders.
There is z chef who works at x place and this is the best restaurant in town and he's the best chef there.

My thoughts are very similar to Nah-chan's. I agree that it would be nice if we got only NPCs that other people actually used in the Library, (Especially because some NPCs are too hard to interact if they are deeply involved with a given character) but I feel like it would be pretty hard to get "common use" NPCs like that.

I made Pierre basically to have a bartender figure that everyone could use and refer to. And I was really happy to see Gobo being saved by Pierre even though I'm 99% sure InsertName never read my report that Pierre was introduced in... And I feel like that would not have happened if we first needed someone else's interaction with Pierre to make him exist! >.<

So I think it might be better to allow entries to accept only 1 person's references, though it would be ideal to have at least two people referencing it.

I totally understand where you're coming from! >.< (I felt like "Isn't this just pointless clutter?" when reading some of the entries there, for one...)

But I don't think there is a good way around it, I think that between losing the chance of other people interacting with NPCs that make the world more vivid, or having some more clutter in the library, I'd prefer the clutter in this occasion.

Maybe just put a note to encourage people to get references from other people's reports before putting things on the library? Or to avoid putting characters that aren't easy for others to interact with?
Yeah, they're looking great. A nice touch on making scouting non repeatable so there won't be any time conflicts.
*shakes pompoms*

Aye, Nene won't do any either, but I don't think there is anything I could have put there that Nene would do anyways! xD
