I'm finally doing this. I was also reading opinions about the current prices meanwhile so...

Market price chart:
Weapons:
Iron Knife 20 G
Iron Shortsword 50 G
Iron Lance 100 G
Wooden Bow 120 G
10 wooden arrows 1 G
Customized metal weapons price x 2.5 - x 3.5
Not weapon metal tools price x 1.2 - x 1.5

So the weapons' based price is for iron casted weapons(excluding the wood ones). They work fine as a weapon but they aren't as sharp as a customized one(they stab as good). They probably do more blunt damage than slash damage. For the purpose of trying to kill things is probably the same difference between a +7 atk and a +10 atk. Probably. I'm not an expert in forging. I'm just trying to make this more believable. If you just need a weapon because you lack one you can buy the cheap ones. But some fighting style requires a very specific weapon to show their maximum performance. You cannot expect a katana to work like a rapier or a rapier to work like a katana. The difference between an iron casted weapon that doesn't fit and a customized weapon that fit is basically +7 atk and +20 atk. I will admit that I'm oversimplifying the explanation. If someone is more knowledgeable about this argument probably can bury me somewhere for the price. But I'm also working for a gameplay balance prospective and a roleplay simplicity prospective.

As a side note: not every weapon can be made perfectly. I don't know how advanced is the weapon development in this world but if they lack the knowledge and tools to make x weapon, the best they can do is an underperforming replica based on the info you gave. So don't expect something like the perfect katana that can cut through anything.

As a side note of the side note: If you decide to play as a blacksmith, you have a bit more freedom as long it makes sense and you do proper research.

Armor:
Leather Armor 120 G
Iron Armor 200 G
Wood Shield 30 G
Customized armors price x 1.2 - x 2.5

There are not casting involved so this price makes more sense. If there is, it doesn't make it as cheap. Again I don't have much knowledge about forging. Only a few people are going to buy armors anyway. This isn't a full set. I'm currently too lazy to work with each piece individually.

Magic stuff:
Wooden Mage Staff (max 3 extra enchatment) 100 G
Mage Robe (max 3 extra enchatment) 120 G
+1 enchantment price x 1.5 - x 2.0

The magic kinds of stuff are always pricy. Also, this can easily go out of control without proper checks. The based for both items is "help a bit with mana channeling". Also, only people that want to go for a classic mage are going to buy this stuff.

Tomes are a bit too sensitive material to give a proper price for now.

Side note: You can buy the base version and add the enchantment yourself. Just remember that the more enchantment it has and the harder it is to add a new one.

Side note of the side note: This is just a market price chart. I'm not setting up an NPC shop. It's just to help people give a more proper price. We haven't added any rules yet but I think everyone will agree if you are going to resell it to an NPC, you are only going to take 10%/20% of the price.

Potion:
Minor healing potion 10 G
Minor mana potion 10 G
Healing potion 100 G
Mana potion 100 G
Great healing potion 1000 G
Great mana potion 1000 G

So the stronger you are and the less effective potions are. Minor healing is very good for people from civilians to experienced warriors. It's basically a full heal or 80% heal potion to them. But if you are physically stronger than that, the effectiveness drop to 40/50% because of talent or extreme training or racial traits. Overall It's very similar to a normal rpg. The only major difference is we don't care if you are a grass cannon or a tank. The same logic work with mana potion. This is mostly to keep healing and mana potion price relevant. You can probably make a character that doesn't need potions but have other drawbacks. (an example is my character that has faster recovery but has the drawback of healing magic and potions doesn't work on him so he actually needs to require to wait to recover before he is ready for actions. it's not an equal trade considering he also never can use magic but it adds more substance to "use brain to overcome difficulties" but I'm going slightly offtopic).

Long story short, if you want or don't buy potions (or anything), it's your decision of how you want to roleplay. It's not like to have a large amount of money mean anything unless you want to ruin other people's fun.

General good:

I posted before I manage to finish this... Anyway, I mostly agree with most of the prices here. Only the lantern and the backpack I feel they are a bit too cheap.

@ohko, sometimes, I wish someone will write something like this:

Title: Weapon Training - basic
Sponsor: The townwatch
Location: The guard station
Required Level: 1
Objectives:
1. Buy a weapon of choice (sword/shield/spear/axe) (optional)
2. Pay 100G for training fee
3. Join the training

Description: the townwatch opened a class for adventurer and residents alike to learn some self-defense and combat skill for those who want it.

You are expected to bring one of the three weapon above and we will teach you how to use it. Due to physiology difference, we cannot teach those who have non-humanoid form.
Rewards:
  • EXP: ?
  • Money: 0
  • [Basic sword/spear/axe mastery- Scribel style]
That way people can get new skill.

Why is the bow so expensive?
Bows are actually very hard to make and I feel bad if they are so cheap compared to not iron casted weapons. Using the if they break argument for cheap weapons, I don't think bows are as easy to break and if it breaks and you don't have enough money to buy a new one, I found more interesting to roleplay the struggle to using a cheap melee weapon until buy a new bow.

Still only @ohko! Although if anyone wants to volunteer, you should definitely PM me!

The main requirement for the GM account is that you really like to make quests — particularly guild quests. So go make tons of quests! And then I might shove this account onto you (lol) :blob_happy:
would you mind if someone used one of the reserved post to make index/table of content in the library? We certainly need an index.

You could probably make a custom quest similar to this. Just try to keep the EXP awarded similar to the range of other quests at the same level.

I would personally call it something like “proficiency” rather than “mastery” — since from an IC perspective I doubt someone can master something from one lesson.

Check the WorldAnvil site! @Feathers95 has been reposting all the library entries there, and it’s easier to search over there. And it’s also more organized.

It’s extremely tedious to maintain the links on a forum. As soon as someone slacks off or goes inactive, the index sort of becomes worthless.

Slight typo on #47, I think. it should be horde, not hoard.
Thanks!

Although I don't like suicidal actions, I might add a few more quests. :blob_evil_two:
