You do realize that the thread is readable and live right now... no? Because here is something that you should take into consideration as, YOU wrote:

Checking all the comments before you made this bold statement, none of them were attacking you. If you believe any of those comments were attacks on you, I think you should step out of your bubble. Anything after this comment of yours? What the hell did you expect?

Getting boo-booed by fictional heroes or villains doing fictional things in a fictional world made up by someone in his/her head has an instant solution:

Stop reading it.

How is that not an attack on me?

But there's hundreds of cartoons with talking animals, :blob_frown: :blob_cookie:
Am I misreading this? :blob_frown:
Probably but it's badly worded.

The only way that line is true is if you take it to mean that the character does not exist in rea-

Oh, right, sarcasm. Shit, my sarcasm metres busted.

As written, it isn't an attack at all. People often forget that freedom of association goes both ways. We can just overcome the gamblers fallacy and walk away. it's just hard as shit to.

There IS a meta level insult vector of "i cant believe i have to tell you this" that is easy to assume as present, but that requires leveraging societal conventions that may or may not exist.

I Choose to believe that Corty was in fact trying to mitigate your pain as you very clearly were hurting, and offered practical advice to avoid in future. Makes it a lot easier to interact than Oh This Is Obviously An Attack

Plus if an attack WAS incoming but you act like it wasn't, then you put a check on the other party to either double down or drop it

If you did take that as an attack, then I am saddened by the fact and I would do like to offer an apology right here. I thought with the language used in the main post, some banter is up for grabs.

But I should have guessed because of the line in your post:
But these attempts to sleight off hand a genocide past me just feel like a personal insult
Now, this next part is not an attack, not an insult, to make this clear for you:

Authors don't write their stories to insult YOU. They write their stories to entertain those who like it. If you are insulted by a story that is on you. The author don't even know you. He or she does not write to go after YOU. He or she doesn't even know you are reading it. Get out of the mindset things are for you. Simply accept that there are things you don't like and find things that you do like.

Irl people: *genociding and mass deportation for territories, resources, and beliefs* Uh yeah those stories are bonker and unconvincing :sweating_profusely:

Irl people dont have self awareness about their moral bias so characters not having any is pretty realistic lmao

@forli I remember your thread about racism in fantasy books, but I don't remember people attacking you. The most popular answers were that authors and readers are simply lazy and\or stupid. I, personally, answered with a meme in that thread, because I agreed with the most popular answers. Don't know what happened here.

Also, most people here don't defend SH. Some people, I won't name them, but it's not you, are willingly degrading SH whenever they have an opportunity. So I'm not sure why you think that you are alone and everyone attack you. Maybe it's because no one condemned what happened to your novel. I believe you would find a lot of supporters here if you decided to make a thread about that. Sure you would get replies from a couple of local trolls, but I can't see us gaslighting you. We can disagree on certain views, but I can't see us disagreeing when it comes down to actions.

He actually have a supporter here but he just ignored her. If anyone here isn't attacking forli, it's Zakuro. As if forli doesn't care about her at all and only want to cause trouble...

He pretended people who agreed with him didn't exist and only cared about people who disagreed with him. What do you call that?

Wait, you guys don't drink your daily dose of geno-cider? I mean sure, sui-cider also tastes pretty good.

"With great power comes great genocideability" or something.
Combine "I'm different" or "I'm chosen" and "I'm powerful" and in most cases you get some degree of murder hoboness at some point or the other in a story and nothing gives those power junky readers more kicks as genociding a whole species or culture, especially if it's an millenia old evil empire that sustains itself only through rape, murder and demonic rituals and have no other infrastructure other than caves and temples where they sex, drug and sacrifice, because that's all it takes to create an empire. Still better than those chinese in-sect characters that seem to need to genocide more than they need to eat, drink or take a dump. Genetics and evolution can be a bitch, it seems...

I call it being emotional. If it was Lloyd, Kusa, or someone else doing it, I would think they want to cause trouble. I don't know forli good enough to say this. However, if you look at forli's book and what he or she posted there, you can clearly see that he or she doesn't want to stir up trouble.

Damn, talk about an active thread, huh?

My two cents in genocide is, if it is done well, it's great. If it's done poorly, it might be wish-fulfillment. (A very fked up kind)

I don't usually judge authors by their book. Remember J.K Rowling? But okay.

The magic of a more innocent era...

We can only really take the memories that shaped us, though.

Rebirth by phoenix pyre into a new generation of wisened wizardly writers.

And channel the torch to brighter pastures
