As a reader I don't like webnovel because there is no advance search facility and the rating/power stone inflation of stories. Everything is quantity over quality in webnovel and lot of good stories get buried because of it. Only relatively trustable numbers are the contribution points that are hard to fake which only exist for the paid stories. And the price of the coins are very expensive as well. Also the comments and reviews can't be edited (as far as I know). I have to copy delete and paste it again to achieve the same effect.

Well it is admittedly a good place to earn money by writing a story if you have the means to increase the powerstones quickly (using robots, asking help from friends or if your story is genuinely good). The quality of the story doesn't matter that much, higher the ranking more exposure, the more exposure more paying users.

So webnovel is indeed a terrible site for readers looking to find quality stories. There are indeed quality stories in webnovel, but they are lot harder to find than in scribble hub or royalroad.

Webnovel is for drunk reading. As a reader I can’t tell you how many times some person’s grammar made me wonder if they even took a 1st grade class in English. As an author though it probably has the best feel to it out of RR or SH. I would probably use Webnovel for a first draft site if it had tables. Looks like I’m stuck with good ol SH

I started off posting on Webnovel.com, and I can tell you that they treat the average author pretty poorly.

I entered one of their writing prompt contests, and my novel was the #1 voted for the contest. They offered me a gold contract, but as soon as I rejected it, they told me that I was disqualified from the winner's list. Despite that not being a requirement for winning, they apparently don't care about you if you aren't going to make them some money.

Trash, bad format, bad for new authors. Extremely hard to break into their format unless you are a part of their slave contract. If it weren't for the fact I already post on there and have some readers. I would've dropped the website a long time ago.

Free just like SH- but expect some harsh trashing if some goons past through your work expecting it as a work of Stephen King. So meh. RR is also a very good platform. No contract but they encourage you to create Patreon, or paypall an offer some advance chappois or whatever you can offer.

It is the same with here on my end am not a english speaking individual and one keeps on trying to trash me for the likes rather than give writing tips or advise one even telling did what i did wrong would have helped me but to reach their own plans and goals

I am newbie in WN (My stories are not earning legitimately any thing yet) so I am still familiarizing myself about it. To summize my bad experience on the App: 1. Lucky for those authors writing under those "Mediocre" stories they mostly cater in there but their "Forum" Section got me completely pissed off. Do not even try to comment on their 2022-below forum sections since you might get a lousy & annoying response of being an "asshole" after asking a simple question. Sorry for the rant. Thank you.

Disregarding all the usual "bad Chinese company is bad and unethical" stuff that somebody else will probably cover:

As a reader, as far as I know, the only reason to really dislike it is the pay-to-unlock system where you basically end up paying per chapter. But honestly, it's just a more micro version of locking chapters in bulk behind Patreon walls which far fewer people complain about. Though, some readers might be put off by the hundreds upon hundreds of "reviews" that are 5 stars with copy-pasted text that literally reads like "Fdshgghrfesdhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." You can't really trust any numbers on there to be legitimate.

As an author, they are manipulative, unresponsive, and absolute utter shit. First off, if you post your stories to their platform and then want to delete them, there's no way to do it. If you email them and ask them to please remove your stories, they will lie to you in your face and say that they can't. That they literally can not delete the stories (despite somehow doing it whenever DMCA'ed). I had to upload gay porn to my cover and spam copyrighted material into my stories for 3 months in order to get Webnovel to finally realize I was breaking the rules and to delete my stories. Then there's all the controversy regarding their contract which is basically putting you into slave labor while taking complete ownership of your series away from you for less pay than you would make pursuing the normal Patreon -> Amazon route. Then there's not being able to use italicized/bolded/underlined text which is all extremely simple but not possible at all there, which is pretty silly. That being said, to try and be fair here, they have an excellent portal for authors with tons of stat tracking. Their author portal is honestly the best one out of all web serial platforms I know of.

So, it's alright for readers but shit for authors unless they're desperate, clueless, or just don't care about being taken advantage of.

I for a long while was a reader on webnovel, but finally stopped when they switched to fast passes instead of spirit stones to plug all the free chapters. At that point, fed up with the price of chapters being high enough to just pay a guy to write for me and having ignored some sketchy claims about the company already, I left and gave them a bad review.

Well, the money is nice too. I can use it to commission neat artworks for my story. Gives the illusion my story is actually a legit LN
